People ringing our Doorbell
Dear Neighbors - We just got home from one of our trips on Sunday evening, and read the report that Monica forwarded regarding the business break-ins on Monday. Tonight, Tuesday, we had our front doorbell rung around 6:00 PM while we were hanging in the basement, thus took me 20 - 30 seconds to get to the main floor hallway. There was nobody visible as I walked up to the front door, and when I opened it there was a lady walking her dog toward our house from Highland Avenue direction. I asked if she had seen anybody ring our doorbell, or be on our front porch, and she pointed out two Male figures that she passed walking half way down our block toward Highland. I went to the walk and called out to them to see if there was anything that they needed, but they looked over their shoulders at me, and continued walking to the end of the block, and turned up on North Highland heading toward the park. They picked up speed, and in the darkness I could not really get any description of them except rough height and weight. Both dressed in Black Jackets, later than their 20's, and the taller of the two having a red hat on. I found their total disregard to my calling out to them, followed by them moving around the corner a lot faster very different from anything I have encountered while living in this house since 2002. I called the police, but to my knowledge they found nobody fitting the description that I gave. With that in mind, there are two possibilities of what I dealt with that I could think of, combined with their behavior: 1) We have several very large packages delivered today while we were out, thus they were left inside our Vestibule. Could people have seen this, and waited until dark, and rang the bell to make sure nobody was home. 2) Casing the joint, especially since all three of the break-ins were at night. Please stay vigilant of yourself, your property, as well as of your neighborhood.
