[Highland Park] New Economy Working Group and Resilience Circle Training

The NEW ECONOMY working group meets Tuesday, DECEMBER 11, 10 am, Thomas Merton Center, 5129 Penn Ave. We'll be discussing a proposed 2-day tour of Detroit's revitalization/worker-owned companies. Volunteers are needed to do interview with local groups for our MAPPING PROJECT. RSVP: molly.rush@verizon.net TRAINING for RESILIENCE CIRCLES Facilitators, JANUARY 5, 9am - 3pm. We are seeking facilitators to lead Circles in their own neighborhood, church or community group. “Resilience Circles,” also called “Common Security Clubs,” groups of 10-20 people who bond together to increase their personal security. Groups are focused on joint learning, mutual aid, and social action, with members often providing valuable assistance to one another in times of need. Resilience Circles are meeting in over 30 cities across the United States, and people in dozens of other cities are forming groups. Free online tools and guides are available through the Resilience Circle Network, supported in part by the Institute for Policy Studies. Trainer: Luka Carfagna, a Boston College PhD candidate from Pittsburgh. Her advisor is Juliet Schor, author of Plenitude: The New Economics of True Wealth . Luka works with a Resilience Circle in Boston.
