The head is very smooth for both Pan and Tilt ***when adjusted*** correctly. *** If the height lock off knob for the center section is left loose, there is a bit of excess play in the panning but that's easily corrected by tightening that height lock off knob. That knob only secures the height of the center column. Pan and Tilt are still adjusted by other individual knobs. Pan and Tilt can also both be locked solid if needed. There's a bubble level on the head and also on the tripod. 2 Quick Release Plates included - the original and a newer one. Both are very good. It has spikes in the end of the legs that can be exposed by turning the rubber feet back. The rubber feet are in great shape and can be lowered to completely cover the spikes. This is a very sturdy rig and very adjustable and very tall if needed. Also included is a brand new, "Newer"(that's the brand name) light stand bag for a carrying case. It has a shoulder strap and also a handle. It's over sized for the tripod so there's extra room for other items.
