On February 3rd, people in Japan celebrate Setsubun, the coming of spring. One tradition is to eat "ehomaki" a thick, uncut sushi roll. The custom is to eat it (without stopping) while facing in the auspicious direction for the year (for 2015 it is west-south-west) and make a wish while doing so.
