[Highland Park] Paper Recycling Event at Whole Foods Market
When you think of all the junk mail you accumulate and the magazines that pile up, it's easy to see how paper products make up the largest part (approximately 40 percent) of our trash. Where some municipalities, including the City of Pittsburgh, offer residents the option to recycle newspaper at the curb, there are few convenient options for recycling junk mail, magazines, and office paper. Consequently, Whole Foods Market is teaming up with the City of Pittsburgh and the Pennsylvania Resources Council (PRC), one of the oldest, non-profit environmental groups in PA, to provide individuals with the opportunity to recycle paper and do their grocery shopping all in one trip. Occurring one weekend only, the store will launch the recycling event on Friday, June 9 at 3pm. Representatives from PRC will be on hand between 3:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. answering questions about recycling and handing out City recycling schedules and giveaways. The public is welcome to drop off office paper, junk mail, school papers, newspaper, magazines, and shopping catalogs that evening until store closing and on Saturday and Sunday during regular store hours, 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. For more information, call Kim from Whole Foods Market at (412) 441-7960 or Ginette from PRC at (412) 488-7490 or visit www.prc.org <http://www.prc.org>.
There are several drop-off containers for all paper available 24/7: I found St. Edmunds Academy on Forbes in Squirrell Hill convenient. There are other schools using it as fundraiser. And there is Construction Junction in North Point Breeze on Meade at Lexington where you can recycle just about everything. On 5/24/06 4:33 PM, "Sarah Alessio" <saraha@ccicenter.org> wrote:
