hi neighbors: recently, someone posted about seeing an apparent package theft happening on a front porch. the person who posted said he had notified the police. but his post also included a description of "an African American woman." i just wanted to say that this poster's description of the possible package-taker matches at least four of my Black woman neighbors—and that's just on my street. in our multi-racial neighborhood, his description of the "African American woman" creates more anxiety and stress than it does help police track package-takers. i don't think that this poster meant to cause anyone harm or stress; he thought he was being helpful. but if you believe you witness something, perhaps leave it at giving your description and eyewitness account to the police. joy, on heberton
