[Highland Park] Looking for HOST FAMILIES for next school year
I live in the neighborhood and currently have a few host families living nearby as well.....feel free to contact me for a meeting or about asking other host families about their experiences. Details below. -Caroline ------------------------------------------------------------------- HAVE EXTRA ROOM IN YOUR HOME & YOUR HEART FOR A CHINESE HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT TO STAY? (Pittsburgh, PA) Host families are needed for the upcoming school year (Aug. 2014- June 2015) for students attending private schools within Pittsburgh City limits. The students come for the school year and return home during summer breaks. Some students return for winter or spring breaks (2 weeks each), but not all choose to do so. Students will enroll as regular full-time students here with the goal of attending an American university upon graduating from high school. Most are 9th or 10th graders when they first arrive. UC Educations’ goal is to bring Chinese students to the United States to obtain education, promote cultural interchange and establish relationships that would be of mutual benefit for the students and host families. Students are accepted into the program after rigorous testing and the mastering of primary English skills. These students desire to learn abroad and forge new relationships with American host families, schools and local communities. Requirements for Hosting: 1) Complete an application; pass a background check, home inspection and interview. 2) Provide a private bedroom for the student, including a non-temporary bed, desk, lamp, dresser/closet & trash can. 3) Welcome the student as a regular part of your family, treating them like one of your own: access to food for breakfast and lunch and prepared dinners during the week; access to laundry and wireless internet, too. 4) Arrange for bussing or provide transportation to and from school every day for your student. If you live less than 2 miles from the school, then the school bus will not be a possibility for your student. If you live over 2 miles from the school and your home school district is within 10 miles of the school, school bussing can be arranged. The homestay coordinator can assist you with these arrangements. 5) Complete monthly hosting report and stay in regular communication with homestay coordinator, who will also make regular visits with your student. Compensation: $750 per month.
