Hello, all! This week's From Planning To Canning gardening class is "Down & Dirty." Just like most things in life, when you're gardening you have to start at the bottom. And the bottom is the soil in which you plant. Come to class on Wednesday to learn about the importance of: • soil texture • soil structure • pH • nutrient levels • nutrient availability We will learn how to test for these all-important properties, as well as how to amend your soil if it falls short. Two class sessions are available: a morning session from 9:30 to 11:30 am, and an evening session from 6:30 to 8:30 pm. Classes are held at Temple Sinai, 5505 Forbes Avenue in Squirrel Hill, 15217 (the corner of Forbes and Murdoch). The entrance is off of Forbes Avenue, between the two large stone columns. We will meet in room 206 of the school. Classes are $20 each, and I accept cash, check, major credit cards and PayPal. (Sliding scale available. No cost if it's a hardship.)
