[Highland Park] Stolen Plant
Dear Neighbors: As a long time resident of Highland Park, it is truly a shame when you cannot create and enjoy your own personal property and space. Yesterday, after a long winter, we placed several house plants on our porch. They are various sizes, surround the porch, and left out until it gets cool. It is like a "tropical setting" and we enjoy it. We have done this for the past few years with no issues. Well, of course, on the first night, with porch lights on, someone stole a large potted hanging plant. We are now forced to remove all the rest for fear that they will also be taken. The worst part of all, you do not really notice the plants in passing. And they would only be noticed from a stationary location. Therefore, we believe it is someone that lives on our street. We feel violated. It is terrible that we live in an time of little values and people take things that are not theirs. And that it does not bother that individual to do it. It is so sad when you cannot enjoy something that is yours without it being removed from people who feel they have the right to come up on your porch and take things that do not belong to them for their enjoyment. So beware, anything that is not bolted down...don't leave out! The Dorsettes Jackson Street
