I'm a storyteller currently working through my second year of the D.Min program at Pittsburgh Theological Seminary. I start off with those two aspects of who I am because both of those are key to ministry I feel God is calling me towards, which is working to build a bridge between the arts world and the Church. With that being said, I have decided to start by hosting an open mic spoken word night at the seminary on October 25th, starting at 7. People could live whenever they feel the need and there will be no cost. This event is important because it is an opportunity for the stories of the Church community to be shared amongst one another. Stories are what keep us going, keep us together, keep us seeing God at work in the world through the stories of one another's life. I mean, our beliefs are based on the Greatest Story ever told, and I want the story to keep being told, to not be silence, and to make sure that there is no one who is voiceless in our community. So, I am hoping that you will join me in my efforts to get the word out and let all those in your midst that are artistically inclined, whether it be in song, poem, story or testimony, that there is a place for them to share those words and lift them up.
