Hi Neighbors, Before I get to the two new dogs (well, new to you, not new to the shelter) who are in need of homes, let me just state that Nyx and Chipz, two dogs that I have posted about here before, are still waiting to be adopted. Nyx is approaching three months at the shelter, and Chipz has been there for two. These are both incredibly sweet dogs who should not have had to wait this long. I have seen jumpier, louder, and overall very poorly behaved dogs get adopted, simply because they happen to be somebody's favorite breed, while these two lovely pit bull ladies get pretty much zero interest. It's not fair, and it hurts to watch. They are both still managing to hang in there, but Nyx is clearly getting depressed (and overweight as a result!) and Chipz has already been hit by some sort of infection that took her out of commission for a week. Please help me find homes for these awesome dogs before any further misfortunes befall them! Now, on to two new dogs who could use some special promotion: The first is Noodle. You can read about her here: http://www.petharbor.com/pet.asp?uaid=WPHS.A206294 Noodle has been at the shelter for almost as long as Chipz but she wasn't available for adoption until recently because of her tail issue. She had a medical condition called "happy tail", which meant that her tail was constantly injured and bleeding from being wagged against hard surfaces. Happy tail can cause serious infections, so Noodle's tail was recently docked (amputated) to prevent this from happening. But she is totally recovered (out of her cone of shame and everything!) and ready to go to an active home that will help her burn off her energy with lots of toys, games of fetch and maybe some hiking and jogging! Despite losing her tail, Noodle is still a total wiggle-butt; she is silly and goofy and adorable and lovable. And gorgeous to boot! What more could you ask for?? The second dog is Dutchess. You can read about her here: http://www.petharbor.com/pet.asp?uaid=WPHS.A203205 Poor Dutchess seems to have had a very rough life. Not much is known about her, but her shyness and nervousness seem to indicate that not very nice things have happened to her in the past. However, she has shown an incredible ability to move beyond all that, with the right person or family. She is so sweet and affectionate once she gets to know you, even just a little bit. While she will probably always be a very quiet, calm and gentle dog, I think that once she's settled into a loving, patient home, she will gain some confidence, probably lose some of the shyness and definitely shed the anxiety. Which to me sounds like the perfect dog. Like Nyx, Chipz and Noodle, she is also very beautiful. She is a bit camera-shy at the moment, so her picture does not do her justice. Her coat is even softer than Nyx's. Please help Dutchess finally live the life she deserves to have! Thanks for reading, Neighbors! Emily
