[Highland Park] Pittsburgh Bill of Rights Defense Campaign needs your help
Pittsburgh Bill of Rights Defense Campaign needs your help to pass a "Civil Liberties Safe Zone" resolution in City Council. 282 communities representing 49 million people have passed such a resolution. Help make Pittsburgh number 283. The Patriot Act gives local law enforcement powers that are in contradiction to the Bill of Rights. We must defend our civil liberties. Please contact your City Council representative Len Bodack and ask him to support the pro-civil liberties resolution without modifications. (Peduto, Udin, Carlisle, and Shields are supporting it; we need one more vote to get it passed.) Contact information for City Council representatives: <http://www.city.pittsburgh.pa.us/council/> For more information about the resolution and the Patriot Act, visit: <http://www.pbordc.org/> There will also be an event on April 21st at Enrico's Tazza d'Oro regarding a discussion and education about the Patriot Act, according to Amy Enrico, who organized the event with Jennifer Kenney of the Bill of Rights group.
