Hello Highland Park Neighbors,
I am gearing up for another year of homeschool FIRST Lego League and recruiting new kids to be a part of our team. Last year we had a lot of fun. My son Holden is 10 years old and I coached this team last year with another parent. We are open to any homeschooling family that is interested in participating.
This is a link to this year's contest page - there is not a lot on it, because the official challenge release is next week on Sept 3. http://www.firstlegoleague.org/media/twocol.aspx?id=247
<http://www.firstlegoleague.org/media/twocol.aspx?id=247>I am looking for the group to meet on either Tuesday or Friday afternoons with a preference for Fridays, and would be interested in your feedback if you are interested in participating.
The team is for 9-14 year olds (4th to 8th grade). I am not sure what the cost will be, because it depends upon the number of kids who join up, but there will be an initial cost of $300 that will be shared by the members of the team ($200 registration fee plus $100 for the mat and shipping costs), with a maximum of 10 kids.
We meet at my house which is located in Highland Park from around 1 until 4pm and the meetings will be beginning the 3rd week in September.
I have kept this brief, but if you have any questions, please reply back and I will do my best to answer your questions. Please feel free to forward this email to any other homeschoolers (cyber school is OK, too) who you think might be interested.
