If you live in the Bloomfield, Garfield, Friendship area, there is a wealth of activities just waiting for you! To kick off the after-school season, Assemble at 5125 Penn Ave is having a Week of Awesome!!! What is a Week of Awesome you might ask? Well, it is a change to come and explore all the hands on programs happening in that space. All programs are FREE throughout the school year. Monday nights are Girls’ Maker Night, aka Girls only! Geared towards 4th to 8th graders, this girls-only program takes a fresh fun look at robotics, science, digital media, and art! You could meet local experts and work on projects that can change the world around you! Tuesday September 22, try out Imaginative Engineering for students in Grades 4th - 8th. Come to explore your inner scientist or engineer! Blow something up! Meet dancing spiders and researchers from the University of Pittsburgh. Or redesign a helmet! The possibilities are infinite! Turn in to Dr. Who with our Time Travel Learning Party Wednesday September 23 4pm - 6pm. This All ages, family friendly event will be a blast! Ever wished you could travel back in time (or back to the future)? Are you a history buff, or a futurist? Into retro technology? Throwback or forward in time at Assemble for fun, hands-on activities will be led by local makers, scientists, artists, and technologists. Thursday 9/24 4pm - 6pm, come to Tech you out! Grades 4th - 8th Want to make an app? Hack something? Program in scratch Students in the program are inspired to create and teach one another throughout the making process hacking and remixing. Try your hand at game design using MIT’s Scratch and more! Make multiple projects and will learn to create and design with new and exciting resources like the Digital Corps. Saturday 9/26 1pm - 4pm Saturday Crafternoons! Grade 1 - 8 Spend your Saturday afternoons making something! Meet local makers and collaborate with community partners! Build a little free library! Design a board game with game designers! You can work on things that make a difference in the community. You can sign up for any of our programs just by showing up!
