Hello neighbors, My amazing daughter started kindergarten this year. She has Down syndrome and it’s been a struggle to find an aide to attend school with her. She attends a Catholic school in Munhall. The school is currently limiting her access to a full day because we have been unable to staff this position. It is approved by insurance but we have struggled to find someone. We have gotten so close but then something comes up in the background check or they don’t show up for the drug test. My little girl is an absolute joy. Most of her struggles stem from her low muscle tone. She just needs some assistance with fine motor skills while using the restroom. She is fully toilet trained. She also needs some help with transitions between classes. The biggest issue that is currently holding her back has to do with her feeding challenges. She has dysphagia so she needs someone by her side to make sure she is safe while eating lunch. I drive her there every day and I would be willing to drive you to and from as well. The hours would be 7:15 (when we leave) to 2:45 (dismissal time). You’d need to get clearances, CPR training, and drug testing. The nursing agency (SwiftShift) would provide access to all these things. I believe the pay is $15/hour and I know that’s not the best. I wish I could do more to get that increased but I promise we will take care of you. You’d be our family’s hero. I’m just a Mom whose in a desperate situation, trying to get her amazing child supported at school. She is eager to learn. If you’d like more information, please email me at shannonstriner@gmail.com.
