Union Project Update - www.unionproject.org - Stained Glass Auction Continues You may still bid on the special stained glass window donated to the Union Project. The window, while not a window from the Union Project, was restored by Richard Kerchner using techniques he learned in 2 Union Project stained glass restoration classes. The window is framed using historic oak hardwood salvaged from the Union Project Organ and refurbished by Don Reed of the Slaughterhouse Galleries in Lawrenceville. The window has been valued at $800 and you can see a picture of it by visiting www.unionproject.org <http://www.unionproject.org> , or by stopping by the Union Project. The auction will continue through December 18. The current bid is $500. Santa Claus to come to Christmas tree market at the Union Project! Christmas trees, wreaths, and other Christmas decorations are now on sale at the Union Project. Hours are11am to 9 pm, 7 days a week. Trees will are priced between $20 and $50, with proceeds benefiting the Union Project. Santa Claus will be at the Union Project Christmas Tree Market on Sunday, December 19 from 1 pm to 3 pm. Other children¹s art making activities will be available. All activities for children are free and open to the public. Union Project Christmas tree Recycling and Call for Volunteers Once this Christmas season has passed don't take your Christmas tree to the landfill! Union Project will accept your old tree (even if you didn't buy it from us) at the Union Project building between Saturday January 1 and Saturday, January 8. Please place your tree in the side yard in the area that has been designated for Christmas tree drop-off. Union Project members and volunteers will turn your tree into mulch for the Union Project flower beds from 12-4 pm on Saturday, January 8. If you'd like to volunteer to help mulch the trees contact justin@unionproject.org. Please DO NOT BRING YOUR TREE AFTER JANUARY 8. Pick up Designing Home Lifestyles Magazine The winter issue of Designing Home Lifestyles magazine features a story about the Union Project. New Stained Glass Classes Announced for 2005 To register for stained glass classes at the Union Project please call 412-478-3105 or email justin@unionproject.org with your first and second choice class preferences. In this class you will learn to repair and restore stained glass windows. This course will take you through simple repairs to complete disassembling and reassembling of historic 100-year-old stained glass church windows. Completed windows remain the property of the Union Project. You will learn how to cut and replace broken or missing glass, glaze, lead, solder and putty a window. This course will give you enough background to make your own new stained glass windows or restore your historic windows. The class fee is $175. The class is open to students of any skill level. Weekend Intensive class will cover the same restoration skills as general classes. Cost for this class is $250 and includes lunch on 2 days. This class is open to students of any skill level and can accommodate only 10 students. New Design Class will cover restoration skills as well as stained glass design techniques. Students in this class will design and build new Union Project "logo" windows to be installed in the Union Project building. This class is recommended for students with previous stained glass experience and is limited to 10 students.
