[Highland Park] icy sidewalks
Neighbors, First, on behalf of all the HP dog walkers, I want to thank all the neighbors who shoveled, and salted or sanded the sidewalks in front of (and around) your homes. If you are not in this group, please get out today to salt or sand. Even the ice that looks dimpled from the rain or has footprints is extremely slippery and dangerous. Despite wearing very rugged boots, I slipped many times. More importantly, please keep in mind that our children are walking to and from school daily and (if you are my son) running down the sidewalks in the dark early morning to catch the schoolbus. We also have lots of elderly neighbors who are at risk for more serious slip and fall injuries. So, to increase the safety of our neighbors, please get out and salt/sand/de-ice ASAP. If you can't do this yourself, I'm sure one of your neighbors will be glad to help. We do this on our street and I would expect no less of our wonderful Highland Parkers. Thank you, Jana
