[Highland Park] Fw: Intersection at Penn Avenue (Target)
----- Original Message ----- From: Celeste Stec Sent: Wednesday, November 13, 2013 3:52 PM Subject: Re: Intersection at Penn Avenue (Target) I am happy to report that I wasn't the only one who thought the intersection at Target was the worst intersection in the country. Well, this Friday Nov, 15th there will be a "protest" to have that intersection redesigned (perhaps by experts who actually know what they are doing and not rich people who don't want to sit at red lights in their BMW's for too long). Pedestrians and bicyclists should definitely attend to show that when you put the arrows for traffic and the walk signs on at the same time, it is dangerous. I will be attending, I hope others support this cause too. Celeste Sheridan Ave PROTEST: FRIDAY NOVEMBER 15th 11:30 AM in EAST LIBERTY Who has the Right of Way... Residents or Cars visiting the new Target? Children stuck on corners, residents with disabilities caught in the middle of intersections, confused pedestrians struggling to find a safe way across the streets, this is the new normal in East Liberty since the new traffic patterns accompanying recent development took hold. On Friday we will hand over nearly 1000 petitions and get a chance to voice our concerns to Patrick Hasset, the assistant director of the Bureau of Transportation and Engineering, who has agreed to work with the community on finding solutions. Join ACTION UNITED members for a press conference and protest over these dangerous conditions: Friday, November 15th 11:30 am Penn Ave and Beatty St. RSVP 412-567-7275 ____________________________________________________________
