Australian Shpherds Furever needs foster homes, please contact ASF directly so they can answer questions : courtesy post
ASF needs adopters and fosters all across the country. Pittsburgh area does have a representative. ASF can answer questions. PLEASEIf you have ever thought of being a foster, rescues need you now. ASF needs you now. Fostering is pretty easy most of the time; it's just another dog. And you CAN let them go. Really, you can. Or, if you absolutely can't, you can "foster fail." I've fostered a number of dogs. One I failed with (Cupid, the mini Aussie) but other than that I've been thrilled to see them find their families. Australian Shepherds Furever will pay for medical bills and necessary items (sometimes a crate, gear, etc. if it's something necessary and will go with the dog). You just pay for food and provide them with a home. We'll suit the dog to your experience and requirements (ex. safe with kids, likes other dogs), and if something comes up that needs attention, we'll help. I usually try and give my new or inexperienced fosters one of those bombroof dogs that is easy peasy. And we don't take dogs with serious behavioral issues or a known bite history. We have reps in many areas around the country, so wherever you are, if you want to foster, we need you. Truly, dogs are dying every day because rescues all over the country are overwhelmed and don't have space. The only cure for that is fosters. Pictured are two sweet herding mixes, sisters, who will be euthanized if they don't have a foster commitment by Wednesday. Sorry to be grim, but that's the reality. And it's the reality every. single. day. Please - if you have ever thought of fostering, do it now. If you can't, but know people that might, share the heck out of this. And if you'd like to apply, you can do so athttps://www.australianshepherdsfurever.org/foster or by contacting the rescue of your choice.
