[Highland Park] Good Friday Reminder
The traditional and solemn observance of the Great Three Hours of Good Friday are at the very heart of Christian life and worship. At St. Andrew's Highland Park the service on Good Friday this year, March 29, will begin at 12 Noon with the Stations of the Cross. At 1 p.m. the Good Friday Liturgy in the Book of Common Prayer of the Episcopal Church includes the reading of the St. John Passion Gospel, two brief meditations, the Good Friday Solemn Collects, organ, and hymns. The final Hour of Good Friday begins at 2 p.m. with a Service of Music, Giovanni Pergolesi's _Stabat Mater_, led by St. Andrew's Parish Choir, with string ensemble and continuo, directed by Dr. Thomas Octave, Chair of the Department of Music of St. Vincent's College, Latrobe. All in the parish and wider neighborhood are invited to attend--for the full Three Hours, or for any portion of the service. St. Andrew's is located at 5801 Hampton Street, Pittsburgh 15206 http://www.standrewspgh.org http://revbmrobison.blogspot.com/
