[Highland Park] Please Post ASAP: HIT & RUN on bryant street between 4:30-7:30 pm
Hello Neighbors, I'm emailing to ask for any assistance/information regarding my freshly damaged family vehicle. Between 4:30 pm (when I arrived home) and 7:30 pm (when my husband, who first realized the damage, got off of the bus on his way home from work) someone completely tore into the driver's side of our car---2 doors long! Thankfully, my car was empty--no injuries to report! The car is/was parked on Bryant Street between 5910 and the Bryant Street Market (and on the same side), almost directly in front of our home. I was inside my home caring for my son who has been having a tough time cutting his teeth and therefore didn't hear any impact/grinding noise as I was in the rear of our home. My car/wagon is dark blue in color and judging by the paint left along my driver's side, the other car is white/light in color. The tracks left by the other vehicle (which I also have pictures of) didn't show signs of stopping or sliding. The tracks are actually pretty clear indicating that this person swerved, hit, and dragged the body of their vehicle across the length of mine. This individual's car would also have to be relatively low/small as my side mirror was left undamaged. Do I even need to report that they didn't leave their information on my windshield? I'm now looking at a $500 deductible whereas if the person responsible had the moral fortitude and general community decency to leave their information (assuming, of course, that people obey the law of driving while insured) then it would just be a case of moderate inconvenience and not the deductible, rental car, missed work, etc. If you happen to see a smaller light-colored car with blue paint streaks across the passenger's side please let me know or better yet, jot down the plate number and send me an email. It takes a special person to produce this type of extensive damage to a "neighbor's" property and then keep on driving. Any information would be greatly appreciated and any communication will be treated as confidential should you desire anonymity.
