With all the reports of problems with younger people I thought I would mention what I understand to be true about the local LAW gang. I don't see too many of them usually, but there were a group of three young people dressed all in black (the gang color) hanging for a good while on a corner near my house yesterday. I was going out for errands and decided I would wait until I got back and see if they were still there before I alerted the authorities. They were gone when I got back, perhaps because of the blue porch light I still have up (people started doing this when the tragedy of the 3 local officers being slain occurred, I keep mine up as a symbol of safety) or maybe because of diligent neighbors. As I understand it, this gang started when the crip and blood gangs first reached this area, as a way of protesting either gang. But then the people wearing all black felt they were targeted as a gang and so they became one. LAW stands for Larimer Wilkensburgh. Jessica Miller, Chislett St.
