[Highland Park] Farmer's Market Cooperative of East Liberty Update
Hello Neighbors This Saturday the market will be well stocked with locally grown fruit and vegetables. Last week we had a lot of fall items- a variety of squash, pumpkins, gourds, Indian Corn, etc. But there is also still excellent local corn, tomatoes, beans and greens. Prices are excellent, so it is a great time to buy by the basket or bushel and put some up for the winter. Apples are coming into their prime, so stop by the Kistaco stand for a wide variety of apples and fresh cider. Rick Zang is still bringing in local grapes- Concords and Niagras from Erie County. I bought some last week and made some concord grape juice which will be available at the Kew Park Coffee Bar. The season is very short so get them while you can. The juice is delicious- nothing like the processed variety available in stores- and very good for you. The Kennedy Family Meat Stand will offer local rabbits, baby-Back pork ribs and roasting chickens in addition to their usual offerings. Next Saturday the Kennedy's will have local, hand-raised veal. All cuts are available, but please call out to the farm to order ASAP. You can reach the farm at 724-898-2316. Call Monday through Friday, 9 am until 9 pm. One final note, the Kennedy's Four Seasons Game Bird Farm is on the Butler County Farm Tour this coming Saturday from 10am –3pm. The address is 115 List Hill Road, Valencia, PA 16059, and directions are already listed on the farm website fourseasonsgamebirdfarm. This is a great opportunity to see the farm! Please stop by the market this Saturday and stop by the Kew Park Coffee Bar for a Jamaican coffee of fresh juice.
