Just a reminder to PLEASE lock your cars and never leave anything valuable in your vehicles. These are crimes of opportunity and the majority of the time if a car is locked and nothing is in plain view, the thief will simply move on to the next car. - We have also seen an increase in assaults/robberies in the East Liberty area that are being carried-out by a group of 4-6 black male teenagers (approximately 14-18 years of age). Our detectives have been able to recover some video footage and are working on a few leads. Please use caution when walking around alone at night. This group appears to target individuals who are walking alone. Please remember to use common-sense safety precautions at night... Walk in groups, park in a well-lit area, and do not carry large amounts of cash with you. I will keep you posted on any progress we are making. I can tell you that the last robbery we had in this area was on 11/30. There is a chance the robber has moved on or may have been arrested for some other crime and we just don't know it yet. However you should still exercise safety precautions. That's all for this week. Have a great week and stay safe!
