[Highland Park] Potential Home Break-in
Dear Neighbors - This afternoon, Tuesday, 23 AUG 11, I was working in my home office, thus it appeared that nobody was home. I had been at my desk for hours either on the phone, or working on my computer, when there was a very load bang in the front of our home. It sounded like the front door had someone run into it. It actually stunned me for a few seconds, as I was on the phone with my wife who was driving up through the Zoo at the time. I went to the front, but by that time there was nobody there, so I checked other doors, but everything was in order. My wife told me of a younger white male, slender build, light in weight, wearing a baseball cap, blue jeans and a blue & white stripped short sleeve short, that was heading away from our home down the end of the block. When she approached the intersection, he appeared nervous and turned his head to avoid his face from being seen. No damage, nothing appearing any more different, just an apparent attempt to gain entry into our home. I did file a police report, as well as the police promptly showed up after apparently looking quickly around the immediate blocks, but this guy was not seen. The police had both a motorcycle and a squad car show up, and I truly appreciate their response. As we have said many times at our Board Meetings both by our members, as well as by the police that have attended to report on our neighborhood, please keep watch on your property !!! I believe that the neighborhood was so quiet, and there appeared to be a moment of opportunity for this guy to see if he could get in. Stay safe, and keep watch on both yours and your neighbor's property. Mike Michael Millet Nadler Board Member, Highland Park Community Council P.O. Box 5036 Pittsburgh, PA 15206
