Dear Neighbors, As many of you know, an indoor firing range for the police is of vital importance to those of us who live close enough to the outdoor range to hear the loud, sustained gunfire when they are training. This is NOT a political issue; it is a common-sense quality of life issue. The advocates of an indoor range have worked tirelessly over the years producing (1) surveys of the inappropriateness of the site (too close to residential communities and atop a ravine that amplifies the noise), (2) studies of the noise levels (which exceed acceptable standards), (3) petitions (signed by 1,000s), etc., for relief. One would expect our Councilperson (who lives in Highland Park, btw) to be on our side in this fight, but Deb Gross isn't. She has voted against it in past budgets and is planning on doing so again, *even though she boasted to Highland Park residents last October that she obtained funding for it.* Please read the article below from last Wednesday's WESA's newsletter, which heavily quotes Deb Gross, who now believes the plan for a police training facility should be scrapped!? She has betrayed the trust of her Highland Park residents to score points with other neighborhoods. This shameful, disrespectful treatment of Highland Park residents must be called out, and unless she honors her word to us, she is not fit to represent us on the Pittsburgh City Council.
