Hi. My husband I would love to sell our current house and move to Highland Park sometime in the coming months. Our current house, which is *great* (3BR, double corner lot, hardwood floors, screened-in porch, large playroom, incredible landscaping w/ a pond, etc.) is simply located in the wrong neighborhood for us (few kids, very conservative, etc.) We think that we'd be very happy in Highland Park and would fit in with a neighborhood that welcomes outsiders and values community as much as HP seems to. I've thought of sending this post multiple times but have hesitated because I didn't know if it would be possible to find a nice (but simple) house in our price range--probably more like $130-150,000 than double or triple that amount, which I know is more consistent with the usual HP prices. However, recognizing that the ways of the universe are often surprising, I figured that I'd see if anyone happens to know of a (probably improbably if not altogether impossible, but what the heck) house in HP, or maybe Morningside, that is/has as many of the following features as possible: -located on a street with a lot of kids (our son is 11 and is homeschooled) -3 or 4 BRs -gas HW heat -lots of natural light -a yard large enough to have a good-size vegetable garden -in good shape (i.e., no major repairs urgently required) -some yard on the sides Thanks for reading this note.
