[Highland Park] Voter Information
Some voter information, to help smooth your voting in Allegheny County tomorrow, as well as a list of resources should there be any issues that arise: Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., but the busiest times to vote are before and after normal working hours. If you can, plan to vote later in the morning (9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.) or during the afternoon (1 p.m. to 4 p.m.). If you don't get to your polling place until later in the evening, the law states that you must be allowed to cast your vote if you are in line by the time the polls close. Stay in line until you are able to cast your vote. Know what to expect before Election Day. Confirm your registration, find your polling place and practice using the voting system. To do so, the following resources are available to you: Allegheny County Elections Division: (412) 350-4500 http://www.pavoterservices.state.pa.us/ The Pennsylvania Department of State's online voting information and resource center: (877) 868-3772 www.votesPA.com If you are a first-time voter at your designated polling location, you will need identification. Should you forget your ID or should you not appear on the official rolls as eligible to vote, you have the right to cast a provisional ballot that will be verified by the Elections Division after the polls close. If you experience any difficulties casting your ballot, resources are noted below. Resources for Concerned Voters: If you experience any difficulties in casting your ballot on Election Day, most complaints can be handled by the Judge of Elections at your polling place. If your issue cannot be handled by the Judge of Elections, contact the Allegheny County Board of Elections at (412) 350-4500. If you feel that a violation of Title III of the Help America Vote Act of 2002 has occurred, is occurring, or is about to occur, you may file a formal complaint with the Pennsylvania Department of State. Any voter who wishes to file a formal complaint may visit the HAVA (Help America Vote Act) Web site (http://www.hava.state.pa.us) to download a "Title III Complaint Form" or request a complaint form at the polling place.
