Local man named CNN Hero: Votes Needed!
Hello neighbors, Pitt grad and Pgh resident, Samir Lakhani, has been named one of CNN's Heroes of 2017! (You may have seen this article in the Post-Gazette <http://www.post-gazette.com/ae/tv-radio/2017/11/02/CNN-Hero-Pittsburgh-finalist-Samir-Lakhani/stories/201711020124> recently.) *Samir is now up to receive the grand prize of $100,000,* which would be an IMMENSE gift for Eco-Soap Bank, which operates a huge mission with a tiny staff. This grant would enable them to reach so many more people with recycled soap in Cambodia and Nepal, continue expansion, and hire more local women to distribute soap in their communities. The need for this basic hygiene item is so great that Samir is contacted several times a month by people requesting ESB's services in their communities, and they can do it with this grant of $100,000. *Voting is easy! Just go to www.cnn.com/SPECIALS/cnn.heroes/vote <http://www.cnn.com/SPECIALS/cnn.heroes/vote>.* You can cast up to 30 votes *per day!* now through Dec 12. The easiest way to cast 10 quick votes is through the messenger option (just click on the blue "message us"), but please also consider adding 20 additional votes each day by logging in with your email address and Facebook. Thank you so much, and feel free to email me with any questions about the voting or ESB in general! Sincerely, Kate *Program Director, NutritionFacts.org <http://NutritionFacts.org>* Check out Dr. Greger's new cookbook <http://NutritionFacts.org/cookbook>! *Board Member, Eco-Soap Bank <http://ecosoapbank.org> * Now through Dec 12, vote for Samir for CNN Hero of the Year: http://www.cnn.com/SPECIALS/cnn.heroes/vote
