[Highland Park] Concert by HP resident/PSO player mixes music and visual art
Highland Park resident and Pittsburgh Symphony bassoonist David Sogg would like you to come to a chamber music concert at The Warhol on Monday, February 21, at 7:30 pm. "Sonic Canvases: Pictures for a Composition" features music inspired by visual art and artists and includes the world premiere of "Andy Warhol Sez:" by 2004 Pulitzer Prize winning composer Paul Moravec. The music crosses three centuries, and the artworks date from 2700 BC to the era following the Tiananmen Square massacre. Slides of the artworks will be shown, and a reception with the performers, Mr. Moravec, and composer Susan Kander will follow the concert. (Ms. Kander was recently received recognition on public radio for a youth opera she wrote, "One False Move," on the topic of bullying among teenage girls.)
