[Highland Park] recommendations for kid's party
Can anyone recommend a good place close to Highland Park for a child's birthday party in December? My daughter's birthday is close to Christmas so I want to find a place that's convenient and that does a good job. Olga Watkins www.olgawatkins.com
Speaking of our theme lately of supporting local businesses and neighborhood folks...I think that a good party spot is Color Me Mine, the paint-your-own pottery shop on Forbes Avenue in Squirrel Hill. It is owned by Highland Park resident Allison Rhodes. My kids did a wonderful day camp there this summer, attended the "Spooky Play Day" there before Halloween, and are greatly anticipating the Kids Night Out Pajama Party in conjunction with the Pittsburgh Zoo at Color Me Mine on Friday. We have not attended a birthday party there yet, but based on our experiences so far, I would expect great service and a good time for all. The party room is cute, the college-age staff members have lots of energy, and Allison adds a lot to the experience beyond just painting the pottery.
