[image: Inline image 1] MONDAY Intermediate / Advanced Ceramics *Winter Session: * *10 Mondays, January 25-March 28, 6-9 pm* *Cost: $230* If you have experience throwing on the wheel and want to take it to the next level, this class will also provide the opportunity to advance your skills, explore new forms, and deepen your ceramics experience. Work on more advanced shapes like teapots or larger pieces, and learn small steps to transform a mediocre pot into a beautiful piece. In addition to hands on learning, your teacher, Keith <http://www.unionproject.org/arts/ceramics-cooperative/#keithhershberger>, will work with you to really look at the pieces you make – going beyond the mechanics of throwing and discussing the aesthetics of what makes one pot better than another. THURSDAY Morning Beginner / Intermediate Ceramics *Winter Session:* *10 Thursdays, January 28-March 31, 9 am-12 pm* *Cost: $230* Whether you already have a little experience in clay, or are just starting out – this class will give you an introduction to the fundamentals of wheel-throwing and hand-building. If you’ve already learned the basics and want to improve your proficiency, this class will challenge you and help you expand your knowledge or refresh your skills. Your instructor, Claire, will focus on teaching centering, maximizing volume, trimming, glazing, and studio safety. Your child will create functional and decorative work drawing upon their imagination and environment for creativity. Projects will provide students with an opportunity to find inspiration in area architecture and natural forms. Each young artist will learn various hand-building techniques and will have a chance to try the potter’s wheel. Raku Workshop *Winter Session:* *2 Sundays, February 21 and 28, 1-4 pmCost: $60/person* Come learn the unique process of Raku firing. You’ll get the chance to make Raku clay bodies and use various Raku glazes. Some hand-building techniques will be demonstrated and the workshop will wrap up with an evening xperiencing the amazing Raku firing process. Grab a buddy or a date for three hours of clay and wine. Everyone will have a chance to play on the wheel, and our instructor will also teach you a variety of handbuilding techniques! Clay, wine, and firing costs are included in the fee. Whiskey Workshop *Winter Session: * *Sunday, March 13, 3-6 pm* *Cost: $40/person or $65/pair* Join us for a flask-making, whiskey-swilling workshop! You will learn soft-slab construction and create your own ceramic whiskey flask...while sampling delicious whiskey. (mmmmm) Bird House Building Workshop *Winter Workshop:* *Sunday, March 20, 1-4 pmCost: $25/birdhouse* Spring is just around the corner! Handbuild with clay and make a cozy home for your feathered friends. You'll use slab construction to build your bird house and then paint on underglazes to spruce it up. Bring some buddies or your family and build a bird house together, or you can each make your very own. Sign up today to save your spot! Wheel 101: April Session *Winter Workshop:* *Tuesday, April 2, 6-9 pmCost: $40/person* Always wanted to try your hand at the potter's wheel? Need a quick refresher on that ceramics class you took in high school? Join us for a creative evening playing on the potter's wheel. Participants will learn the basics of centering clay and throwing bowls and cylinders on the wheel. Lead by an experienced teaching artist, this fun and informative workshop is designed for those who are curious about clay or want to further their skills without the commitment of a class. Clay, tools, and firing costs are included. Union Project's ceramics classes encourage the making of both hand-made objects and connections among people. Your class registration furthers UP's mission to use our space to bring people together to connect, create, and celebrate. The online registration form is located within each class listing on the Union Project website. After you submit the form, you will be to submit payment via Paypal. Your spot is not secured until payment is received. All materials and supplies are included in class price. Ceramic toolkits are available for $20. Refund policy: Refunds may be issued if requested at least two weeks prior to class start date. There will be no refunds issued within two weeks of start date. A $20 administrative fee will be charged for all refunds. Class make-up policy: Class participants are able to make up *one *missed class during an Open Studio session. The missed class must be made up before the last class of the session.
