[Highland Park] Onwers of 5801 Elgin St?
Does anyone know what the story is with this house? It's the large red brick on the corner of Elgin and N. St. Clair that has been vacent for some time. If anyone knows the owner, please tell him or her that there appears to have been some vandilism (looks like pipes were ripped out of the wall and the mantle pieces on the first floor are all gone) and it does not look like the house is secure. They should go over there asap to inspect the damage for themselves and secure the house to prevent any further harm. It makes me really sad to see this kind of theft happening, when it's obvious that the house was being fixed up. Genevieve
This house was forclosed on within the past year. The owner was an attorney from Penn Hills who also owned a couple of other properties in the neighborhood - Stanton Ave, Mellon St, etc. All of which went into foreclosure and had anything of value stolen from them. It often takes the bank 6-12 months to clear the liens and to get them back up for sale, so hopefully somebody can bring them back to life. We all need to be vigilant and keep an eye on vacant properties in the neighborhood. Justin Cummings Howard Hanna Shadyside 412-361-4000 ext 274 On Fri, 2 Nov 2007, Genevieve Hower wrote:
