Whenever an LED bulb started to flicker, I assumed it was "going bad" and replaced it. Today I figured out that all you sometimes need to do in clean off the oxidation on the silvery contact at the bottom of the bulb with a little file or sandpaper. I think that contact resistance causes the voltage delivered to the bulb to drop so low that it can't function properly. (Be sure to unplug the light before you fool with the socket.)
