Fwd: [Highland Park] Dog grooming recommendations
Hi Highland Park! Here is a list of all of the comments people made regarding Pet Grooming recommendations and walking services. I took out any names, but left the comments for context. Thanks for all of the great info, our pouch will be looking fabulous! 5 Double Bee's references 4 Animal Elegance references Single references on the rest of the companies. Thanks!
We like Diamond in the Ruff on the South Side (plus a nice coffee shop a short drive away, Big Dog). They do well with our two nutty Great Danes who don't like to go to the groomer. Not sure what yours would cost, ours are short coats but large dogs, and we only go once or twice a year so honestly I can't remember cost. Their website probably has a price list. We've gone other places that were equally priced but didn't treat our dogs as well.
Animal Elegance on Butler street
animal Elegance is on butler by the ice cream zebra. Animal Elegance at the bottom of the hill on Butler St. across from Exxon. Varies depending on size around $50. they do a great job. our dog is huge and doesn't shed so its a big job, we pay about 100 with tip.u can also go down to the dog stop and they will charge you like 10 bucks to self-wash your dog there, which is kinda cool. they have an elevated tub with sprayer attachments and they give you shampoo and towels and a dryer and all that stuff. We are just starting to use Animal Elegance on Butler Street just across from the entrance to the lower Zoo parking lot. Call Bill at Double Bees for dog grooming: 412/362-4681 -- he's in Highland Park and very reasonable. Closed Thurs. but open Sat.
We use Dubblebee's on Mellon for years.
Double B's on the corner of Welsley and Mellon are the best and right in the neighborhood!!!! Grooming: Dubblebbees Dog Grooming 945 Mellon St. 412-361-4681 cost depends on type of dog but you could stop in and talk to them about it I find the owners to be a bit arrogant .. but they do a good job and my dog was never stressed out when I went to pick him up. Grooming for my King Charles Spaniel is $40 Double B's on the cornor of Weslley and Mellon are the best and right in the neighborhood!!!! We have 2 mastiffs and I've been happy with Petco at Waterworks. For the "full service" wash including trimming nails and scrubbing teeth, we pay $50. I've also recently learned of a self service dog wash in Penn Hills but I haven't tried it yet. I'll let you know. I highly recommend Kateri Sullivan-Walls who owns All God's Creatures (412)661-5636 @ 5121 Penn Ave in Garfield - I think she's the best! I have 2 cats and a big dog. She does everything, clips nails, washes, cuts hair and blow dries. Depending on the size of your dog and their hair type, cost can range between $25 - $75 I'd say. I have a newfie, he's more expensive, but it's so worth it, he always looks great when she's done! If you call her, she'll give you an idea of the cost. I just went to a new service in Greenfield yesterday and was very happy with it: 412/421-1100: Greenfield Grooming Service--inexpensive, careful, knowledgeable. Owner's name is Donna. Dog Walkers
Dog walking: Au Purr (Lisa and Heather, owners -- website is easy to find if you search for Au Purr LLC). Absolutely love them, have been using them for years.
Call Maribeth at Elly Mae's Critter Sitters for dog walking at 412/661-5156 -- she's in the neighborhood, sweet and reliable and VERY reasonable rates. Margaret O'Connell Farragut Street
