PWSA Alerts Residents to be Aware of Utility Worker Imposters
PWSA Alerts Residents to be Aware of Utility Worker Imposters (Pittsburgh, PA) -- The Pittsburgh Water and Sewer Authority (PWSA) was notified that two men impersonating Authority employees entered a home and committed a theft in the Squirrel Hill neighborhood of Pittsburgh yesterday afternoon. The incident was reported to the police who are conducting an investigation. PWSA is reminding residents that if individuals come to your door claiming to be from a local utility, and you are not expecting them, do not let them inside without proper identification. PWSA employees rarely request to enter properties without an appointment. PWSA workers, and all official utility workers, will display company-issued photo identification, wear uniforms or clothing bearing the utility's logo, and travel in clearly marked vehicles. In addition, PWSA vehicles have blue and white municipal license plates. Residents can verify the identity of a PWSA employee by calling 412.255.2423. Individuals behaving suspiciously should be reported to the police by calling 911 immediately.
