Neighbors, This morning, I spoke to a single mother who spent last night huddled with her two teenage daughters around a space heater. They live in a Morningside house that is disrepair with no heat or hot water. This is after having been evicted from their previous home when the mother lost her job due to health problems, which forced the girls to switch high schools. Because of her health problems, including a heart attack, the mother cannot work. She is hoping to receive Social Security disability, though she was denied on her initial application.
