[Highland Park] Marathon Weekend Services
A reminder to all that a "St. Marathon's Weekend" service schedule at St. Andrew's, Highland Park, includes a special Saturday afternoon, May 4, service of the Holy Communion at 5 p.m., for those who would prefer to avoid the traffic barriers or to run 26.2, or to cheer. Services will continue at the usual hours Sunday morning, 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. Those who are able to walk are encouraged to do so. Those approaching St. Andrew's by car should park outside the Marathon route, "beyond" North Highland or North Negley Avenues, or "above" Bryant Street, and walk the rest of the way in as traffic permits. A special Marathon Weekend Offering will be collected at all three services, to be designated to One Fund Boston, in support of those affected by the Boston Marathon bombing on April 15. Make checks payable to St. Andrew's, with "Boston" on the memo line. Our Church School and Children's Chapel programs are on a Marathon Weekend break and will resume next Sunday at the regular hours. Nursery Care will be available on Sunday morning. All are reminded of the Sunday, May 5, 4 p.m. East End Choral Festival at the East Liberty Presbyterian Church, N. Highland Avenue at Penn Avenue. The Parish Choir of St. Andrew's will join the Choirs of Calvary Episcopal Church and the East Liberty and Shadyside Presbyterian Churches in a festival performance under the direction of Guest Conductor Mr. David Hill, Chief Conductor of the BBC Singers, Musical Director of the Bach Quoir, Music Director of Southern Sinfonia, Music Director of Leeds Philharmonic Society, Associate Guest Conductor of th Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, and Principal Conductor of the Yale Schola Cantorum. Should be an exceptional afternoon! BruceR http://www.standrewspgh.org http://revbmrobison.blogspot.com/
