[Highland Park] snow removal story quite motivational
Hey guys :-) what a crazy weekend !!! check out this motivational story-- my dad (Sam) who just turned 84 last month and lives on the 400 block of Borland St. -- off of East Liberty Blvd.-- .has been shoveling his way out of his street !!! he actually started this morning (Sun.) after his sidewalk he is almost free. :-) no blowers or plows just old fashioned labor. our street hardly ever gets plowed even in minor storms. If anyone walks past tomorrow you just might see him he is almost done. The city is doing their best so we please all need to be patient most of us do have to work and get out and around but it is what it is and we need to understand this. Any way please please be careful out there and don't forget as quickly as time passes so shall this. Maribeth aka Me & Sassy
HP Neighbors: I would like to know who we can voice our complaints about the snow removal (or lack thereof) to? Three days after the initial snowfall, we have yet to have *our street* to be plowed or any other major artery in HP (i.e.Negely, a bus route) to be adequately treated. I have left messages with the public works dept and with our councilman. As a resident of the city- I find that the lack of adequate treatment of ANY of our roads is adding more insult to injury. Not only do we pay alot in taxes, we have a sub-par school system, we have no snow removal and heaven forbid, when the time comes, that any potholes get repaired in a timely fashion. It seems to me that the joy one gets by being able to walk to your local coffee shop/farmers market and talk to your neighbors can only take one so far- it is one thing to be patient, but did anyone notice that the back road around Highland Park is plowed and treated?? But mellon terrace and one wild place and negley are a disaster??? That makes a lot of sense, because I have often seen buses run their routes around the back of the park???!!! I know I am sounding off a bit, but does anyone know the proper channels to take this thru- before the city loses more well-meaning, tax-paying residents to the better managed suburbs!!!! Thanks.
