[Highland Park] Re: Warning to runners/walkers
Thursday evening at about 6:00 PM I went for a run through Friendship and
back to my apartment in Highland Park. Just as I had turned off of Friendship Ave. onto Negley two teenage girls (probably 15ish?) walked past me laughing. I thought nothing of it until I was a few feet away from them and felt something hit me in the neck. These two girls had thrown a rock at my head and when confronted just laughed about it. I did nothing further than yell at them as I did not have my phone and did not feel safe confronting them on my own, but I did want to make everyone aware of this experience as I know there are tons of other people out enjoying the weather and neighborhood. I have been running this neighborhood daily for a year and have loved my experiences and felt safe, but I guess it's important to remember we have a great neighborhood but are still part of a big city. Please be aware of your surroundings as a situation like the one I experienced could have a much worse ending.
