[Highland Park] Furniture/Apartment Donations needed- MyPlace Program
Greetings Highland Park, I have written to the list serve before and had a WONDERFUL response. So THANK YOU to previous donors! I am a case manager for ACTION Housing, MyPlace program which provides transitional housing and supportive services to young adults who have aged out of foster care and are trying to move toward independence. We furnish whole apartments because most of the time youth come with just a few suit cases of clothes and personal belongings. When we provide them with a safe space to their own and they no longer have to couch surf or live in shelters, we see tremendous growth in their education, career paths and personal goals. We are looking for apartment donations. My next move is scheduled for Wednesday, July 25th in the afternoon where I will have a truck and a few movers to help. Below is a list of items we could certainly put to good use (please note items, must be in clean, good and working condition:) *full size bedframes *dressers or chest for clothes *night stands *couches/love seats *End tables/coffee tables/TV stands *Small kitchen tables and chairs * utensils *pots and pans *can openers *small microwaves If you don't have anything extra laying around the house but would like to support the MyPlace program, we could always use NEW towels, full size bedding, oven mitts, dishtowels, shower curtain, bathroom rugs, towels, hand towels, wash cloths, garbage bags, broom, mop, all purpose cleaner, dish liquid soap, sponges paper towels or toilet paper.
