Thank you, Monica, and everyone who responded. Since it seems like some people misunderstood my post, I just want to clarify that I personally do NOT walk my dog on the reservoir walkway, as I have always been aware of the “No Dogs” signs.  I am also aware that those signs are STILL there and were NEVER taken down.  Further, I am not advocating for the rule changing or staying the same; it doesn’t matter to me either way.  My dog and I are happy to continue walking in other areas of the park, just as we always have.  But because I like dogs, I also wouldn’t mind if the rule did change.

My question was simply one asked out of curiosity, as I have observed a pretty drastic change in public behavior.  Some of you said you have noticed it too, so I don’t think it’s just me. For the five+ years I walked regularly at the park before the construction, I probably saw only 1 or 2 dogs at the reservoir, total.  Now, I see at least that many per week, sometimes per day.  What does everyone think is the reason for this?  An increase in park usage by people from other neighborhoods who are not aware of the rule or the signage? People who are aware but are weary of the restrictions placed on other aspects of their lives (in other words, another form of pandemic fatigue)? No need to respond, just food for thought.

Thanks.

Hello Emily and Neighborhood,

The short answer is no, dogs are not allowed on the upper track around the reservoir.

Officially, the list includes:
  • No Littering
  • No Feeding the Birds
  • No Swimming
  • No Skating
  • No Wading
  • No Bikes or Unauthorized Vehicles
  • No Fishing
  • No Dogs
Attached is the new signage that will go up that more clearly marks what is expected. The signage has been produced, they are developing the signage installation plan now.

Best regards,

Thanks.
