Patrick Dowd Joins Carnegie Library
Board.
On January 26 Patrick Dowd was appointed to the Board of the
Carnegie Public Library for a term of two years. "As a former
teacher and School Board representative, it is especially gratifying to serve
the library at this critical time in its history. In the coming months, I look
forward to working with library, community, and civic leaders to find a
long-term solution to the library's funding challenges," Councilman Dowd
said about the appointment.
Council Votes YES on Amended Prevailing
Wage Bill.
Councilman Dowd voted to support a prevailing wage ordinance
in the City of Pittsburgh. The ordinance requires developments that receive
public subsidies to pay prevailing wages to all employees. Bill
2010-0105.
City Council Goes Digital.
Live streaming of City Council meetings is now available on
Council’s website. If you miss a discussion you’re
interested in hearing, you can also watch it later at the Legislative Information
Center.
Free Tax Prep for Seniors/Low Income
Filers.
Check our website for a list of
locations in or near District 7 where seniors and low income households can get
free assistance with tax preparation.

Public Meetings.
February 9: City Council will hold a public hearing at 1:30
pm on increasing the amount of bicycle
parking in the City of Pittsburgh. We’d love to see bike advocates
there!
February 17: Help us imagine the future of Leslie Park Pool! Share your memories and
brainstorm new uses for this space. 6:30 – 8:30 pm at St. Matthew Parish,
5322 Carnegie Street.
February 21: Join us for another brainstorming session for Leslie Park Pool at the Stephen Foster
Center, noon – 2:00 pm.
Map Pittsburgh: RESCHEDULED! The Map Pittsburgh
public hearing for Stanton Heights
at the Planning Commission has been rescheduled from February 2 to March 16 at
2:00 pm.
