Upcoming Food Drive! THIS WEEKEND – Saturday, June 20:
Wilkinsburg Community Ministry (WCM) Emergency Food Pantry distributes 3,000 lbs. of food weekly, serving 1,400 residents. Pantry Coordinator Carlos Yanez is very aware of chronic health challenges within the Wilkinsburg community and the role food plays in stemming disease. He notes: "We share food that contributes to a healthy diet for our neighbors’ well being. Our aim is to reduce the amount of processed food in our pantry and increase the amount of fresh 'whole food' we provide." Carlos also started a community garden.
In addition to food donations, Carlos uses monetary donations to purchase bulk pantry essentials: Beans, pastas, spices, and fresh produce.

Three Ways You Can Help:
1) Donate $$ directly. In the "designation" field, write "plant-based foods" so that your donation is directed accordingly.
2) This Saturday, June 20, donate food at two locations: Packaged grains, legumes, vegetables, fruits, nuts/seeds, spices, condiments, vinegars, sauces.
3) Next Wednesday, June 24 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Help to unload donated foods and offer food samples/recipes to pantry patrons. Email s.a.lipsky@gmail.com if you want to help!
