Over the past couple of months, I've been
working with a non-profit called FundScience (www.fundscience.org) which
is seeking to involve the public directly in the funding of pilot
projects through a crowd-funding model. My project was one of
three selected in their initial startup round. Currently
FundScience has about 120 computers that it is looking to donate.
They are a mix of Dell Dimension 3000/3100 minitowers with a
Pentium4 2.8 GHz CPU and 50 MB to 2 GB of RAM and 75 to 300 GB
HD. If you are interested in these computers (and you do not need
to take 120 of them; the inventory can be divided amount several
groups/organizations), please let me know.
Also, please feel free to distribute this
email to any other people or groups that may have an interest in
using these machines in an educational or research capacity.
