Dear neighbors,
Pittsburgh Public School students made a YouTube video to encourage you to vote for the best possible School Board candidates on May 21. Watch it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k_y9SE4ylgc

Please also see the message below for links to information about candidates and voting.

Make sure you don't make this mistake!
Vote the entire ballot, especially school board.
Volunteer to Get out the Vote!
Did you know...
  • 20% - 40% of primary voters will not go all the way to the end of the ballot and vote for school board?
  • 4 new members will join the board after the general election in November?
  • Only 11 days left until the election?
What can you do?

1. Get informed

  • You can watch Wednesday night's candidate forum it in its entirety on PCTV (Comcast Channel 21, Verizon Channel 47) over the next 12 days. Thanks to Dynae Shaw, the League of Women Voters of Greater Pittsburgh, the Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh, the candidates for school board and all our partners for a great event.
  • Read our voter guide or go to smartvoter.org to find out where to vote and learn more about the candidates.
2. Get involved
3. Vote!

This is a critical election at a critical time in the history of the Pittsburgh Public Schools.  Our students need you to vote because great schools need great school boards.

A+ Schools is a nonpartisan organization.  We do not support or endorse any specific candidate. Our goal is to educate the community and promote increased participation in school board elections.

Teacher Appreciation Week

Today is the last day of Teacher Appreciation Week. Help us celebrate Pittsburgh's great teachers by posting pictures of your favorite teacher(s) on our Facebook wall. Tell us why this teacher is special to you as a student or parent and help us honor their service to our children.

What is it going to take to ensure all 26,000+ PPS students graduate from high school ready for college or career training? YOU!

Over 150 volunteers interviewed all PPS Principals about the resources and opportunities they can or would want to offer students.

Now it's time for you to hear the results and join our efforts to make schools work!
