check the Water Authority’s website for specific hydrant testing locations

Testing of city fire hydrants has started
and will continue for the next two weeks.
The Pittsburgh Water and Sewer Authority
and the Pittsburgh Fire Bureau are testing the water system to ensure that it
meets the needed fire flow from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Residents in the Downtown area will be notified if evening work is done.
Testing at each location should take
approximately 30 minutes. While hydrants are being operated, residents in the
area may experience low pressure and dirty water.
If dirty water is experienced, residents
are advised to let their water run for approximately 10 minutes, or until the
water clears.
