This weekend, the Pittsburgh Blues Festival will celebrate its 20th anniversary with another great 3-day weekend of fabulous music and fun, all to benefit the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank.

If you are looking for something to do on what is promising to be a gorgeous weekend, this is a terrific option. It all takes place at Hartwood Acres and if you don't feel like driving, you can get a shuttle right from Bakery Square. There is a great slate of national and local bands and the headliner is Dr. John, on Saturday. If you're not a blues fan, no problem - you probably will be after going to this festival, or, you can enjoy the other performers like Norm Nardini and Highland Park's Olga Watkins.

The festival is family friendly, with a kids tent, and there are lots of great food, craft beers and merchandise vendors. Tethered hot air balloon rides are available. If you want to get in for free, go on Friday and take a bag of non-perishable food for donation - that bag will be your ticket!

There is a tent for dogs to get water and treats if you must bring your dog, although some dogs might find the music a bit too loud and would prefer the cool and comfort of home.

This is a mellow music festival for all ages. Pack up your lawn chair or a blanket, sit under the stars and trees and enjoy the music, while knowing that you are part of a great Pittsburgh tradition that has raised $2 million to help feed our neighbors who are struggling to put food on the table. Anyone could need the help of a food pantry at some point, and we are so fortunate in this region to have an exemplary food bank!
