Tax Preparer/Quality Reviewer for VITA site (East Liberty, Pittsburgh)

Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) site in East Liberty neighborhood of Pittsburgh is seeking an experienced income tax preparer and reviewer. Quality Reviewer/Tax Preparer will oversee team of volunteers in preparing and e-filing income tax returns for low-moderate income families and individuals.

Position Description:

·          This is a temporary, seasonal position that begins December 15 with training/orientation on tax law and operating a VITA site. Position runs part-time in December (up to 10 hours a week) to full-time from January 2 to April 22, 2011 (up to 40 hours/week).

·          Quality Reviewer/Tax Preparer will maintain confidential tax files, track, and complete all returns prepared by a team of up to 25 volunteer, trained tax preparers with varied years of experience.

·          Quality Reviewer/Tax Preparer will staff VITA site during all open hours: Tuesdays - Fridays Noon - 8 pm, and Saturdays 9 - 4 pm, plus prep time for each day.

Pay: $16/hour, no benefits.

Requirements:

·          2-3 years experience preparing taxes at an intermediate or advanced level and reviewing and e-filing returns for either a non-profit VITA site or a private tax preparation company;

·          Able to work independently and provide support and oversight to 4-5 member teams of volunteers each day site is open;

·          Must be detail oriented and a people person to succeed in position;

·          Must obtain clearances for ACT 33/34, State and Federal Criminal Record, and Drug Screening before beginning position (agency arranges and pays for all clearances and tests).
