I'd like to follow up on the notice of this meeting that went out on the neighborhood last week to let everyone know more about how this planning process and how it may positively affect Highland Park. Click the link below to find out more about the overall Green Boulevard opportunities that will extend from Downtown out to Washington Boulevard. Basically, open space planning, river access, and transit improvements throughout the 5 miles of Allegheny Riverfront that make up the neighborhoods that share the river are all in discussion. For Highland Park, the affected areas are Heth's Run and Negley Run. You may be familar with the upcoming Heth's Run improvements that will transform the Zoo parking lot with new recreational space and trails to the riverfront. This will be part of of Thursday's discussions. New to the discussion will be a focus on Negley Run, with design options looking to reconnect this green valley to the riverfront, improve public access and use, and address the flooding hazard inherent to the current topography. All very important and exciting, and I hope to see you at Thursday's meeting.
